Week 1: High Table w/ Alumni and Students

Since I've arrived in HK, the whole process has been by far the most overwhelming experience I have encountered in my life. Time has flew quite quickly, it's been a week, and I'm trying to make the most out of it.

On the first day of school, it's quite a blur to many. To build up your confidence (not just being aware of your surroundings at the university) it's a good idea to attend some of the activities your set university has already planed and prepared for newcomers, like me.

Today I signed up for a High Table and Dialogue Session with Alumni and other freshmen. (Which also continues tomorrow, where students who had attended the activity to be broken into smaller groups, called the Peer Connect Programme, guided by a Student Induction Instructor (SII), who will enhance our understanding and appreciation of the relationships between HKU and the community.)

We weren't allowed to take any photos, I have no idea why HKU is concerned about students taking photographs, but since i was near the end of the table I was able to do a sneaky shot ;)

The High Table was a really good experience and way to spend my time getting to know the other students and elites working at the university. It also enabled me to get out of my comfort zone to start conversations with the other local Hong Kong students.

The lunch itself was not too great, but they had great services!

By the time the session was over it started to poor with heavy rain, but it did not bother me too much as I was quite happy to see rain :) however it was not the best idea to run back to my dorm in the rain.

While it had completely started out well, I was completely soaked, and to make matters worst... I had left my keys locked in my dorm. It wasn't until a few hours later till one of my room mates had came home, but I was lucky enough to have met another person a couple days ago within the block who had invited me to visit. So I was able to get to know this person much better and to my surprise we had quite a few similarities.

Well that is all for know, I am back in my dorm and into some dry comfy clothes. Hopefully university life will get easier.
